Lyon eye a new big signing as Endrick remains in limbo
As the winter transfer window is set to open on January 1 for a month, Olympique Lyonnais is already preparing a potential big move. The club, which last year solved its attacking problem with the loan of Real Madrid striker Endrick, seems keen to repeat this strategy.
A loan already fruitful
Last season, wearing the Gones’ colours, Endrick scored eight goals and provided eight assists in twenty‑one matches. This output convinced the Lyonnais to consider a flashy option to extend the loan this winter.
According to Spanish radio Cadena Ser, quoted on Wednesday, “the Lyonnais would be delighted” to welcome the Auriverde again on loan. The outlet notes that the experience has been mutually beneficial and could be repeated in the coming weeks.
After Real blocked any extension this summer, OL tried in vain to secure the partnership. The Rhône‑based management therefore turned to former Lens player Loïs Openda, who arrived from Juventus on loan without a purchase option for three million five hundred thousand euros.

Endrick, twenty years old, is already attracting interest from financially stronger clubs, such as Roma and Aston Villa. These suitors reinforce the certainty that the young scorer will switch teams this winter.
Under José Mourinho, Endrick has logged only four minutes of play against Elche since the start of the season. The coach prefers the summer signing Carlos Espi, relegating the Brazilian to the sidelines.
Thus, while OL is preparing another major move in the market, Endrick’s future appears to be shaping up away from the Lyon ranks. The upcoming transfer month will decide whether the loan strategy continues or if the player joins another team.
