Loïs Openda leaves the pitch on crutches, Belgium worries

Under the lights of the Bollaert stadium, Red Devil Loïs Openda, recently back from the four Nations League matches with the Red Devils, had to leave the pitch in the middle of the first half, supported by crutches, after a violent collision.

After the match, Loïs Openda was taken for medical attention and had to use crutches to reach the team bus. He will undergo medical examinations this Saturday to determine the severity of the injury.

Paulo Fonseca, coach of Olympique Lyonnais, chose not to comment on the incident, stating that he will wait for the examination results before making any statements.

The Lyon club, nicknamed the Gones, has promised to communicate quickly about the Belgian striker's physical condition. OL's next fixture is this Thursday in the Europa League against Crystal Palace, where Openda's availability looks uncertain.

Return and past

Back at his club after three weeks with the Belgian national team, Openda hoped to regain confidence after a difficult spell at Juventus. He had already shone at Lens, where he scored 21 goals in a Ligue 1 season.

In the match against RC Lens, the forward succeeded at only one dribble out of three and attempted just one shot, which was blocked immediately. Before halftime, he suffered a violent clash with Jonathan Gradit, forcing him to leave the game.

Reaction and outlook

Visibly in tears, Openda was carried off the pitch, unable to set foot again. Social media quickly shared the scene, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured Red Devil.

This injury adds to the pressure already on Lyon, whose recent performances are under scrutiny. Supporters await the medical conclusions to know whether the striker can return before the upcoming European commitments.
