Leipzig’s loan push for Nkunku sparks English interest
According to , RB Leipzig are determined to re‑sign French striker Christopher Nkunku, aiming to restore the attacking firepower they lost after his 2023 departure, and Milan are prepared to discuss a summer loan for the 28‑year‑old, while English sides Newcastle and Aston Villa have also shown interest.
According to the report, RB Leipzig have been ‘pushing’ in recent hours to secure Nkunku’s return. Transfer expert Gianluigi Longari added that the Bundesliga side know the French forward is not part of Milan’s plans. Leipzig’s desire to bring the striker back reflects their aim to strengthen the squad ahead of the new campaign.
Loan negotiations with Milan
Milan, referred to as the Rossoneri, are reportedly open to letting the 28‑year‑old leave on loan this summer. The French striker arrived at San Siro from Chelsea last summer in a deal worth over €30m. His contract with AC Milan runs until June 2030, giving Leipzig a potential long‑term option should a loan be extended.
In the 2025‑26 season Nkunku contributed eight goals and three assists across 35 appearances for Milan. Those numbers underline his continued productivity despite limited playing time.
English clubs also sniffing the striker
Previous reports in Italy claimed that both Newcastle and Aston Villa have sounded out Nkunku’s availability. The interest from the Premier League sides adds pressure on Milan to reach a decision quickly.
Nkunku previously featured for RB Leipzig from 2019 to 2023, scoring 70 times in 172 games. His familiarity with the club’s environment could ease a swift reintegration.
Milan are also preparing to complete their third summer signing, Belgian winger Diego Moreira from Strasbourg for €50m. The sizeable investment highlights Milan’s active transfer strategy despite being willing to loan out Nkunku.
Leipzig must now negotiate loan terms with Milan while fending off interest from England. A successful agreement would see the French striker return to the Bundesliga, but any delay could see him move elsewhere.
