Leeds United chase Club Brugge striker after Champions League hat‑trick

Leeds United are looking to add depth to a forward line that still leans heavily on Dominic Calvert‑Lewin, and the club’s scouts have been swayed by a recent Champions League display that highlighted the potential of a young Belgian striker.

Champions League performances spark interest

The Whites have identified 22‑year‑old Nicolo Tresoldi of Club Brugge as a priority attacking target for 2027 after his hat‑trick against Inter Milan in the Champions League lifted his profile. A Football Insider report his movement, finishing ability and physical presence impressed Leeds staff, prompting the club to intensify its pursuit.

January move faces hurdles

Although Leeds see Tresoldi as a key addition, the report notes that securing him in the January window could prove difficult. Club Brugge are not entertaining any offers for the German U21 international during that period and prefer to retain him until the summer.

Pete O’Rourke said: “I’m sure there’ll be a lot of clubs looking at Tresoldi, and Leeds are certainly going to be among them. He obviously really caught the eye and his reputation soared earlier this month when he scored that hat‑trick in the Champions League against Inter Milan. He’s a top player, he’s done very well for Club Brugge, but Club Brugge aren’t entertaining any offers for Tresoldi and definitely not in the January window, they want to keep hold of him.”

Daniel Farke, Leeds’ manager, is keen to add another striker to reduce the side’s reliance on Calvert‑Lewin. The Elland Road outfit believes Tresoldi’s attributes could provide a long‑term solution at centre‑forward, especially given his age and room for development.

Club Brugge’s reluctance is matched by a rising valuation; reports suggest a fee exceeding £50 million would be required to secure the forward’s services. The Belgian side sees Tresoldi as a key attacking player and is unwilling to lose him midway through the season.

Leeds are not alone in monitoring the striker, with several Premier League rivals also tracking his progress. The Yorkshire club will need to act decisively, either by making an ambitious January bid or by waiting until the summer, to stay ahead of the competition and potentially lock down a major transfer target for 2027.
