LaLiga postpones Granada‑Tenerife clash as club mourns forward’s death

At the Nuevo Los Cármenes stadium, the LaLiga Hypermotion round‑13 clash between Granada and Tenerife, scheduled for Saturday 7 November, has been postponed. Granada CF revealed the decision on Wednesday after the death of Jesús de Miguel, CD Tenerife’s forward. A replacement date has not yet been set.
LaLiga weighs wider suspension
LaLiga is now considering suspending the entire round 12 of the Primera division and round 13 of the Segunda division, which were set to begin on Friday 6 November. No official decision has been made and the remaining fixtures remain on the calendar. The postponement request originated from the Spanish Footballers' Association, whose board included the deceased player. The union asked the Royal Spanish Football Federation, LaLiga and UEFA to halt all football in Spain from 3 to 9 November. The RFEF regulation permits postponement of matches for exceptional circumstances. The federation has already suspended the Copa del Rey Mapfre and the Copa de la Reina Iberdrola on 3, 4 and 5 November, with new dates to be announced.
Champions matches in Spain forgo anthem after Jesús de Miguel's death
Media reports suggest LaLiga faces complications due to television and sponsor contracts, possible penalties and a tight schedule. FIFA international windows pause the Primera division but not the Segunda division. Tenerife’s president Felipe Miñambres said the club had spoken with LaLiga and Granada, which showed full support, to suspend the Saturday match. Tenerife also intends to request postponement of its Copa del Rey tie against Badajoz and its league game against Ceuta on Sunday 15 November, citing the need for minimum recovery time. LaLiga must now inform clubs whether the rest of the round will be played or postponed.
