Kompany speaks out on Olise's red card after turbulent Bayern night
Vincent Kompany had to cope with a 3-3 draw for his FC Bayern against Viking FK in Stavanger on a turbulent Tuesday evening, which included a dismissal for Michael Olise. The Belgian criticised his winger's behaviour and stressed that such moments are decisive in a season. The match was marked by setbacks from the start, but Bayern turned the tide in the second half before Olise saw the red card.
Early comeback and late turnaround
Right from the start Bayern fell behind practically with the kickoff, similar to the previous match against FCA. Shortly before halftime the hosts increased the lead to 2-0 after a counter‑attack. In the second half Harry Kane scored two goals and Luis Diaz the opening goal, bringing Bayern level within 17 minutes.
Olise incident and dismissal
Michael Olise provoked Viking captain Zlatko Tripic in an action, initially fouling him in a yellow‑card worthy manner and then throwing the ball into the opponent's face. The second yellow card resulted in a yellow‑red card and the dismissal. Kompany called the dismissal “over‑stupid” and explained that Olise should have calmed down and not been forced to provoke.

“He knows that, we are very clear on such matters. I see in his eyes that he regrets having done it,” Kompany said afterwards on Prime Video. The coach stressed that it is not a final or semi‑final, but such moments are important for the season.
Reactions of teammates
Harry Kane expressed frustration about his teammate's red card. “In the second half we came out well and fought our way back. The red card then changes the entire game,” he said. At the same time he urged Olise to take responsibility and learn from the mistake.

Consequences for the next match
The dismissal means that Olise is suspended for the home game against FC Arsenal next week. This deprives Bayern of an important winger, while the team continues to aim for an away win at Viking FK to alleviate the frustration from the previous league‑weekend.
