Klopp steps up preparation for Nations League duel at Johan Cruijff Arena

Jürgen Klopp has subjected his German internationals in the days leading up to the Nations League‑duel with the Dutch national team to intensive preparation, so that they can show immediate results on Thursday evening.

The new head coach of Germany held countless talks with his players and spent little time on the training pitch. Instead, a lot of meetings were held, with both individual and group sessions taking place.

Klopp said that he has thought about what he wanted to convey to the lads, without making it too big, and that he is satisfied with how it has progressed so far.

Two meetings are still scheduled before the kickoff, in which a foundation must be laid “so that the lads can take off”. Klopp feels a ‘positive tension’, but had little time to become nervous.

He explained that tactics are intended to make the individual qualities of the opponent less visible, and that the German organization must help the players become the best version of themselves.

According to Klopp, the German internationals regularly exceed themselves at their clubs. He wonders when that last happened for the national team and wants such days to occur more often.

Klopp gave no details about his lineup or the system he wants to use against the Oranje, but emphasized that he is responsible for a development that gives a good chance of winning every match.

He promised no title, but did state that one will see that the team wants to win and will commit to the process, regardless of whether players are new or have been with the squad for a longer time.
