Jürgen Klopp tweaks German squad for Nations League clash in Amsterdam

In the bustling Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam, Jürgen Klopp is ready to fine‑tune his German squad for the Nations League clash against the Netherlands, calling up Karim Adeyemi on Thursday while Lennart Karl will only be available later. The change comes just hours before the match, heightening the tension among fans.

Adeyemi and Karl swap places

Sky Sport reports that Adeyemi and Karl are swapping places in the international calendar. Adeyemi, the Barcelona forward, will now face the Netherlands and Greece, while Karl, coming from Bayern Munich, will only be available for the match against Serbia on 1 October and the second tie on 4 October.

Initially, the Barcelona striker was set to feature in the last two internationals, but the Bayern talent from Munich was originally listed for the first two ties. The reversal means that Adeyemi can now shine in the first two matches.

Klopp splits Germany squad as Nations League opener looms

The German Football Association says the change is related to the workload of the players during the League international period. Klopp has called up as many as 44 players for four internationals in eleven days, after which a large part of the squad will make way for others after the first two games.

Germany start Thursday evening in Amsterdam against the Netherlands side of Xavi Hernández. The first phase includes the Netherlands (24 September) and Greece (27 September), followed by Serbia (1 October) and a second confrontation with Greece (4 October).

For the second phase, the goalkeepers are Noah Atubolu, Finn Dahmen and Jonas Urbig, defenders Waldemar Anton, Ridle Baku, Finn Jeltsch, Maximilian Mittelstädt, David Raum, Malick Thiaw and Nico Schlotterbeck, midfielders Mika Baur, Tom Bischof, Saïd El Mala, Brajan Gruda, Vitaly Janelt, Felix Keidel, Lennart Karl, Aleksandar Pavlović, Derry Scherhant, Florian Wirtz, Serge Gnabry and Jamal Musiala, and forwards Jonathan Burkardt and Nick Woltemade.
