Hibernian chase European ambition with versatile Aoife Colvill signing

🇬🇧

Hibernian have bolstered their attacking options by securing the services of 25‑year‑old Aoife Colvill, a former Glasgow City forward who returns to Scotland after two seasons with Standard Liege. The Australian‑born striker has signed a two‑year deal with the Scottish Women’s Premier League side, giving manager Joelle Murray a versatile option to deepen the squad as Hibs chase further success.

Colvill’s contract runs for two years, reflecting Hibs’ intention to integrate her into the squad beyond a single season. The move reunites her with the SWPL, a competition she knows well from her previous spell with Glasgow City.

During her four‑year stint at Glasgow City until 2024, Colvill contributed to two title‑winning campaigns. She then spent two seasons at Standard Liege, where she added a Belgian Cup medal to her résumé.

Head coach Joelle Murray praised Colvill’s ability to operate both centrally and on the flanks, describing her as a strong attacking presence with the versatility to play through the middle or in wide areas. Murray added that the intelligent, hard‑working forward offers different options in the final third and that her impressive goals‑to‑games ratio when she last featured in the league underscores her quality.

Colvill echoed the club’s aspirations, stating that every team wants to compete in Europe and chase trophies, and she believes Hibernian can achieve that. She expressed confidence that her experience will help the side reach continental competition.

Murray expects Colvill’s experience to be a real asset as Hibs navigate the upcoming SWPL campaign. The two‑year arrangement provides the club with a flexible option to build around her attacking skill set.
