Hannover 96 eye Hamburg's young Ghana‑German midfielder Kofi Amoako

Hamburg are being linked with a possible transfer of 21‑year‑old German‑Ghanaian midfielder Kofi Amoako to 2. Bundesliga side Hannover 96, a move that would come just months after the player arrived at Hamburg for a €1.8 million fee under a contract signed on 1 July 2026.

Hannover eye midfield reinforcement

Amoako has featured only once for Hamburg this season, a three‑minute cameo in the Bundesliga without scoring or assisting, and has not started a league match. His market value is listed at €4 million, suggesting potential upside for a club seeking a defensive midfielder. Hannover 96, competing in the second tier, could offer him regular minutes to aid his development.

Amoako began his senior career with Wolfsburg after progressing through the club’s academy. He spent part of the 2024‑25 season on loan at VfL Osnabruck before moving permanently to Dynamo Dresden in July 2025. He made the switch to Hamburg after one season in Dresden.

Amoako signed a contract with Hamburg until June 2030, meaning he remains under contract for a further four seasons. The rumour does not attach a transfer fee or probability, and he has been used sparingly during the 2026‑27 campaign.

If the move materialises, Hamburg could free a squad place while retaining the player’s long‑term contract, and Hannover 96 would add a young defensive midfielder with room to grow.
