Getafe negotiates Carvajal's arrival while the league remains open

In the dressing room of Real Madrid, right‑back Dani Carvajal, 34, remains without a club after his contract ended on 30 June. Now, the newspaper ABC reports that Getafe, eleventh in LaLiga with eight points after seven matchdays, are negotiating his signing.

Negotiations progress with Getafe

Last week, from Italy, it was reported that the veteran had been offered to several Serie A clubs, according to Angel Martinez and Sergio Escario. This Tuesday, the newspaper ABC confirmed that Getafe, coached by José Bordalás, are negotiating his signing.

According to the source, talks are advancing and Carvajal could pass the medical with Getafe. The club is eleventh in LaLiga with eight points after seven matchdays, which makes strengthening the defence urgent.

Carvajal, 34, has a long list of injuries that have limited his availability, although his honours include six Champions League titles and several trophies with Real Madrid. His record continues to be examined by the executives.

For José Bordalás, the arrival of the former world‑cup player would be a relief, as he needs a larger squad for the league, the Copa del Rey and the Conference League. He insists on having quality players in every line.

After the 1‑0 victory over Málaga, with a goal from Iván Azón, Bordalás said: “This is a living nightmare.” He added: “That is how I feel and the players feel. They are making a titanic effort and many are holding on with very limited strength.”

Getafe’s right‑back is Andrés García, on loan from Unai Emery’s Aston Villa until the end of the season, and Kiko Femenía, absent since early September due to a left ischial hamstring tendon rupture. Femenía’s absence increases the need for Carvajal.
