Dani Carvajal leaves Real for Getafe, a transfer market surprise

As part of the Spain transfer window, on Tuesday, Dani Carvajal, a Real Madrid figure, announced that he will leave the Casa Blanca at the end of his contract to join Getafe, a club located thirteen kilometres from the capital, and will sign a contract free of any commitment.

Carvajal signs for Getafe

Free of any commitment, the right‑back, six‑time Champions League winner, is set to don the colours of Getafe. The club is only thirteen kilometres from Madrid, thus limiting the geographical disorientation for the player.

The information was hinted at by Getafe president Angel Torres in an interview on. He said that Dani Carvajal “has passed his medical (…) and the agreement between the various parties is finalised”.

Torres nevertheless added a note of caution: “All that remains is for La Liga and the club to reach an agreement”. This clarification indicates that the official signing still depends on the league’s approval.

According to AS, it was head coach José Bordalas who took the initiative by contacting Carvajal directly. He presented his project, emphasising the important role the player would have on the pitch and in the dressing room.

The coach’s arguments convinced the defender, and now it is just a matter of waiting for the official confirmation. The announcement should come quickly, given the buzz the news is already generating in Spain.
