Gasperini leans on De Roon as Cristante sidelined for Como clash

Roma head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has given his squad a three‑day break and scheduled a training session for Tuesday afternoon in Trigoria, signalling a long weekend for the Giallorossi. The plan gives the squad ample recovery time before the decisive encounter.

Preparing for the Como clash

The Grugliasco‑born coach is set to begin the week with preparations for a crucial Serie B encounter against Como. The match is slated for Sunday, October 11th, at 12:30 PM in the Stadio Sinigaglia. A positive result will be vital for Roma’s campaign.

For the game against Cesc Fabregas’s side, Gasperini will likely be without Bryan Cristante, who has suffered a knee injury that forces his withdrawal. The number 4’s absence leaves a gap in midfield, but the Giallorossi have not sounded the alarm.

De Roon, who arrived in the capital in the final hours of the transfer window, has yet to make his starting debut but could reverse that trend at the Sinigaglia. According to Il Corriere della Sera, the Dutchman is favoured to partner Koné in midfield. Having spent the three‑week international break entirely at Trigoria, he is reported as a strong contender for a regular spot.

Gasperini remains confident that his midfield options will cope, and he is prepared to field De Roon when the team takes the field on Sunday. He expects the midfield to adapt quickly and maintain the team's momentum.
