Four points give Borussia Mönchengladbach new winter transfer hope

After (Nach) four points from the last two Bundesliga matches and progress in the DFB-Pokal, Borussia Mönchengladbach has found new confidence.
The side, which began the campaign disastrously, has closed the gap to safety and could climb to the relegation places with a win over HSV.
Despite the positive trend, sporting director Rouven Schröder is already looking to reinforce the squad in the winter window.
"They (Sie) will act on the winter transfer market if quality is available at a very cheap price," said Sky expert Florian Plettenberg.
He added that a squad discussion with new coach Alexander Blessin will still need to take place.
The club’s primary targets are central defence and central midfield.
In midfield, even with Enzo Leopold’s serious injury, Philipp Sander, Zento Uno, Jens Castrop and Florian Neuhaus provide four capable options.
If needed, 18‑year‑old Mathieu Nguefack, who has already featured five times this Bundesliga season, is also on the list.
Kevin Stöger could depart in winter, freeing a squad place and budget; his contract runs out at season’s end and he may submit a transfer request, currently playing no defined role.
A similar situation applies to Florian Neuhaus, yet under Blessin he has impressed, making a winter move unlikely, and he previously expressed a desire to stay.
Regardless of new arrivals, the club expects high‑profile returnees soon: Franck Honorat, Hugo Bolin and Tim Kleindienst are slated to rejoin after the international break (Anschluss).
Consequently, no reinforcement is required in attack.
