Cisse leads Italy U21 attack as Camarda drops to the bench

Alphadjo Cisse has been handed the starting role in Italy’s Under‑21 attack for the Nations League clash against Poland, while fellow Milan prospect Francesco Camarda has been relegated to the bench as the team’s reserve striker for the decisive encounter that could secure direct qualification to the European Championship.

The match is scheduled for 18.15 on Monday 5 Ott 2026, with Italy needing a win by at least two goals to clinch a direct spot in the European tournament. Coach Massimo Baldini opted for Cisse as a false nine, despite Camarda’s inclusion in the squad. The decision reflects the current form of the two young Rossoneri, as Cisse has impressed in recent Milan outings while Camarda’s minutes have dwindled. The decision has sparked News across the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana circles, with analysts debating its impact on the Rossoneri’s domestic campaign.

Cisse, born in 2006, enjoyed a striking start to the season, notably influencing the game against Armenia and earning regular rotation minutes at Milan. However, the anticipated full‑return of Christian Pulisic may soon curtail his playing time in the club’s line‑up. Camarda’s season has been hampered by a shoulder problem early in the year and fierce competition from Gonçalo Ramos, who remains untouchable for manager Paulo Amorim. He has logged only eight minutes across two brief spells, prompting Amorim to stress that the summer decision not to sign another centre‑forward was meant to keep Camarda integral to the project. The coming weeks are crucial; without consistent game time before the winter break, a January loan move could become inevitable to restore Camarda’s continuity. Amorim hinted that the club will reassess his role once the break arrives.

"Alpha is a really strong player. He is a friend of mine and I am happy for him," Camarda said from the Italy camp. "He deserves it because he works hard. I am convinced he will continue to do well. Milan? I only wait for my moment and use the Under‑21 matches to perform. We care deeply about the national team and aim for the European. We must truly believe – we are a family with great qualities, and I think we can achieve it," he added.
