Amorim eyes January loan for United striker as Milan chase double reinforcement
AC Milan have a clear shortage up front – Goncalo Ramos is the sole recognised No 9 and 18‑year‑old Francesco Camarda has logged just eight minutes this season. With only five wins and two draws from their opening five Serie A fixtures, manager Ruben Amorim is keen to add a proven striker before the January window.
Striker shortage prompts Zirkzee pursuit
Calciomercato reports Milan are preparing a winter loan for United forward Joshua Zirkzee, with an option to buy at the end of the spell. The Dutchman joined Manchester United from Bologna in 2024 and has struggled for game time, recording only 70 minutes across all competitions this campaign.
United’s limited use of Zirkzee, combined with the bench‑time of prolific forward Benjamin Sesko, makes a loan move attractive for both clubs. Milan would gain a forward with Serie A experience, while United could free up a squad place.
Defensive reinforcement on the cards
Alongside the striker, Amorim is also linked with centre‑back Leny Yoro. United are said to value the Frenchman at €50million (£42.5m) and could consider a short‑term loan to satisfy Milan’s defensive needs without a full transfer fee.
Milan aim to secure Man Utd defender Yoro in January
Former United scout Mick Brown explained the situation: "Yoro is excellent technically, on the ball he’s very good, but the physical and the mental side of his game is lacking, and I’m told that has become a concern for Man United. The only way you can develop that is by playing every week, experiencing these situations and adapting, but that isn’t happening at the moment."
Brown added that a loan in January would benefit all parties, allowing Yoro regular minutes and giving Milan a ready‑made defender.
Current league standing and goalscoring context
After five matches Milan sit fifth in Serie A, having won five and drawn two. Their tally of ten league goals is only outscored by leaders Roma and second‑placed Inter Milan.
Milan eye Alejandro Balde as injuries force Ruben Amorim to rethink wing options
Goncalo Ramos, the club’s main striker, has contributed a single goal, highlighting the need for additional firepower. The potential arrivals of Zirkzee and Yoro would therefore address both attacking and defensive gaps as Milan aim to improve their position in the league.
