Inter still a little British, awaiting Stones, Spence and Jones

Sunday 4 October 2026 Inter is still not very “British” and continues to look for the contribution of the three English defenders: Stones, Spence and Jones. Stones needs to return from injury, Spence is eager to make his debut and Jones wants to regain his level.

Stones' Situation

Stones scored in his first appearance in a friendly, earning the applause of San Siro in the match against Monza in Serie A. After a period of uncertainty with Udinese, he was sidelined by an injury that will make him available only after a careful break to avoid further problems.

Spence's Journey

Spence made his season debut in the friendly won 2‑0 against Lumezzane, where he was deployed as a right winger. The former Tottenham player spent the first fifty minutes, and now it is awaited whether he can earn his first call‑up at San Siro against Parma, scheduled for Saturday the 10th.

Jones, however, has started gradually, leaving good impressions in the minutes he has been used, but has disappointed in the two marquee matches so far, with a loss in Madrid and a heavy defeat in Rome. The lack of a national team call‑up has allowed him to stay at Appiano to work on continuity.

Inter count on Calha's return as Serie A restarts on Saturday

There is still little Premier in this Inter, at the moment, a competition from which the Nerazzurri have drawn heavily in the market to seek a step up both domestically and especially beyond Italy’s borders.
