Brentford close on record €48m move for Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangaré

Brentford FC have agreed in principle to sign Lens defensive midfielder Mamadou Sangaré for a reported €48 million, a deal confirmed on Tuesday. The Malian international was reported by L’Equipe as being very close to joining Keith Andrews’ Bees for a similar fee, underscoring the scale of the move.

Brentford, who will see England international Jordan Henderson depart for Chelsea, have been holding discreet talks with Lens for weeks to secure Sangaré’s services, aiming to add a defensive anchor to their midfield.
