Bordalás boosts Demba Seck's career and Getafe gets ahead in market
Getafe Deportivo has placed the name of Demba Seck, 25‑year‑old Senegalese right winger of Partizan Belgrade, on its January transfer list, while Schalke 04 and a club from the United Arab Emirates are already contesting his signing.
Bordalás discovers the Senegalese in the qualifier
In the Conference League preliminary qualifier, Getafe Deportivo overcame Partizan Belgrade with a 3‑1 at the Coliseum and a 2‑1 in the return leg on 27 August, achieving a 4‑3 aggregate. Demba Seck, a starter in the second match, played the full ninety minutes and unleashed a shot that hit the post in Belgrade.
Enes Ünal's goal in the 70th minute kept the blue‑clad qualification alive, while Partizan scored in the 53rd and 76th minutes to win the match. José Bordalás fell in love with the Senegalese winger after observing his performance without substitution.
The race for the winger intensifies
Getafe's interest has been reinforced by the presence of Schalke 04 and a United Arab Emirates club, which are also vying for Seck. The Spanish club wants to get ahead in the winter market, which is already underway, to secure the player before its rivals finalise their offers.
The negotiation has shifted venues because Seck arrived in Belgrade on loan from Torino and Partizan eventually acquired him outright. Therefore, Getafe no longer deals with the Italian club, but must convince Partizan to close the deal.
Bordalás backs the signing by highlighting the continental exposure Getafe offers, which will contest the Conference League group stage against teams such as Brighton and Ajax, and the possibility of playing in LaLiga in the same season. The deal will be decided in the January window, when the blue‑clad club must outpace Schalke and the Emirati rival.
If Getafe manages to close the signing, Seck would have the opportunity to establish himself in LaLiga and continue participating in European competitions, while the blue‑clad club would strengthen its squad for the second half of the season.
