Besiktas' €20m Trossard bid threatens Laurienté move
Sassolo's €25‑30m asking price for French winger Armand Laurienté has forced Besiktas to reconsider their transfer plans after reportedly offering €20m for Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard. The Turkish club may pull out of talks for Laurienté if the Trossard deal proceeds.
Vincenzo Italiano is the new coach of Besiktas and is seeking reinforcements, especially in the wide attacking areas, to match his preferred style of football.
Negotiations with US Sassuolo over Laurienté stalled because the Italian side wants at least €25‑30m, while Besiktas' proposal hovered around €20m.
Sports Digitale reported that Italiano gave his blessing to sign either Laurienté or Trossard, but only one will be purchased this summer.
Turkish transfer analyst Yagiz Sabuncuoglu claims Besiktas made an €18m offer plus €2m in add‑ons to Arsenal for Trossard; acceptance would cancel any deal with Sassolo.
On May 19, 2024, Laurienté was photographed at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio nell'Emilia during US Sassuolo's Serie A match against Cagliari.
Trossard is currently representing Belgium at the 2026 World Cup, and his Arsenal contract expires at the end of the season, making this a final chance for a sale.
The episode highlights how Turkish clubs balance high transfer fees against contract windows, with Besiktas willing to meet substantial sums for proven Premier League talent.
