Bayern Munich targets defender Luka Vuskovic and goalkeeper Johannes Schenk

While Vincent Kompany, then Burnley manager, continues to scour the Pro League for talent, Bayern Munich is focusing its attention on goalkeeper Johannes Schenk, currently on loan at Beveren, and on Croatian defender Luka Vuskovic.

Johannes Schenk, the monitored goalkeeper

Johannes Schenk plays in the Pro League with Beveren, on loan from the German club Preußen Münster. Since his arrival at the Freethiel, he has impressed, notably in a big match against Anderlecht. Trained in Munich from age fourteen to twenty, he never played an official minute with the first team before being transferred to Preußen Münster. A German under‑21 international, he established himself as a starter in the German second division before breaking through in Belgium this season.

Johannes Schenk expressed his ambition. In an interview with TZ Muenchen, the main interested party said: “For me, it’s about getting the best out of myself this season, developing every day and helping the team as much as possible. Everything else will fall into place. I am very ambitious and I always want to take the next step in my career and play at the highest level possible.”

The void behind Neuer

Bayern Munich is preparing for Manuel Neuer’s definitive retirement, which opens a slot among the goalkeepers. The management has mentioned Bernd Leno and Bart Verbruggen as possible replacements, but the club also keeps an eye on Schenk, who could return through the front door next summer.

Luka Vuskovic, the targeted defender

Luka Vuskovic, a former Westerlo defender known for his spectacular goals, now plays at Brighton. Vincent Kompany has added him to his scouting list, as journalist Christian Falk reports. The Croatian, nineteen years old, has already attracted Bayern’s attention, which had approached him before his move to the Premier League.

Bayern continues to monitor the young centre‑back’s development, keeping him on a shortlist despite the current lack of a spot in the defence. According to information, any transfer will first depend on a departure among the Bavarian club’s central defenders.

Transfer conditions and prospects

The German club can only act if it frees a central defender position, a condition that currently delays any concrete move. Nevertheless, the dual monitoring of Pro League talent shows that Bayern is widening its search beyond just the goalkeeper at Beveren.
