Bayern Munich assert dominance in Ligue UEFA Champions clash at Madrid

Le Bayern Munich secured a 2-0 victory on the pitch of Atlético de Madrid in the fourth matchday of the Ligue UEFA Champions League, confirming their control in Madrid.

Bayern’s second‑half dominance

Les Allemands showed surgical realism in the second period to claim all three points. After a tightly organised first half that ended goalless, Bayern quickly imposed their authority after the break.

Young forward Lennart Karl unlocked the deadlock in the 54th min, confirming Bayern’s overall dominance with 60 percent possession. The bal was contested fiercely as Bayern kept the initiative. Atlético attempted a response by introducing Kang‑In Lee for Robin Le Normand in the 59th min, but the Bavarian block remained composed. The decisive blow came in the 74th min when Konrad Laimer scored, after an assist from Harry Kane.

Match facts and wider impact

Atlético never found a way to breach the defence and suffered a logical home defeat in this phase of the competition. The match took place on 3 November 2026 at 21:01 local time. Joshua Kimmich received a yellow card in the 57th min. Substitutions at 59 min saw Álex Baena replaced by Lee Kang‑in, Alexander Sørloth replaced by Ademola Lookman, and Robin Le Normand replaced by Koke.

Lennart Karl was taken off for Nathaniel Brown in the 68th min. Konrad Laimer was taken off for Sacha Boey in the 89th min. Giuliano Simeone was booked with a yellow card in the 80th min. Josip Stanisic received a yellow card in stoppage time, 90+1 min.

Bayern had previously drawn with Viking and Arsenal, leaving them lower in the league phase before this win. The victory restores Bayern’s points tally to eight from twelve, putting them back in the top eight. Jan Oblak equalled Adelardo Rodríguez with his 553rd appearance, the second‑most in Atlético’s history. Oblak’s long‑ball accuracy stood at 33 percent in the first half.

He saved a shot from Joshua Kimmich just 26 seconds into the second half. Karl’s opener came after a defensive error, with the teenager lifting the ball over Oblak. Dayot Upamecano’s deflected effort struck the cross‑bar, keeping the score at 1‑0 before Laimer’s second goal. The match was played at the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid.
