Bayern overturns deficit, Olise sees red – Kane sets club record

In the second matchday of the Champions League, Bayern Munich in Stavanger initially had to endure a 0-2 deficit, but turned the game around after the break and finished the duel with a 3-3 result. Harry Kane scored two goals, matching the club record, while Michael Olise received a yellow‑red card after an act of unsporting behaviour.

Early conceded goal and tactical switch

On Saturday, Bayern in the Bundesliga against Augsburg conceded the fastest goal in history – after just eight seconds. Three days later the record champions in Stavanger experienced a similar start, when Gianni Stensness scored the 1-0 for the Norwegians after 72 seconds. In the 38th minute, Peter Christiansen made it 2-0 for the home side with a counter‑attack.

Coach Vincent Kompany responded at halftime with a triple substitution, after having already changed six positions compared with the Augsburg match. The changes paid off, as Bayern returned to their old strength after the side change.

Kane's double and the new record

In the 54th minute Kane scored from the penalty spot to make it 1-1, and just six minutes later he added a header from a cross by Joshua Kimmich. With these two goals Kane equaled a club record that had previously only been held by Robert Lewandowski in the club's ninth Champions League match; Cristiano Ronaldo had been the only one to have been successful for longer.

In the 71st minute Luis Diaz restored the equaliser and put Bayern ahead 3-2. Shortly after, in the 90th minute, Herman Haugen levelled the score for Stavanger after a loss of possession by Kimmich.

Other events of Tuesday evening

At the same time Yann Sommer celebrated a win with Brugge against his former club Inter Milan. The round‑up also points to the other Tuesday matches. The incident involving Olise, who threw the ball at Zlatko Tripic's head, led to his dismissal, reigniting the debate about unsporting behaviour.
