Barcelona's €65m Koundé price tag draws Liverpool, Chelsea interest
FC Barcelona have set a €65 million price tag on French defender Jules Koundé as the club looks to balance its books this summer, with Premier League sides Liverpool and Chelsea monitoring the 27‑year‑old closely. The Catalans hope the deal can free up funds for new signings, while Koundé recently extended his contract to mid‑2030.
FC Barcelona must offload players this summer to comply with financial regulations. The club is also planning the departure of goalkeeper Marc‑André ter Stegen and the sale of defender Marc Casadó while targeting a new defensive signing.
Jules Koundé is among the primary targets for a move out of Camp Nou. Barcelona have indicated they will consider offers close to the €65 million valuation they have set.
The French defender was acquired from Sevilla in 2022 for roughly €55 million. Although signed as a centre‑back, Koundé has spent recent seasons predominantly playing at right‑back.
Koundé recently extended his contract until mid‑2030, securing an improved salary. He has said he feels at home in the Camp Nou environment.
Premier League clubs Chelsea and Liverpool are said to be following the situation closely. Nevertheless, any transfer remains far from certain.
