Real Madrid eye €12.5m windfall as Bournemouth chase ex‑academy striker
Real Madrid could collect €12.5 million this summer as Bournemouth in the Premier League move to sign former academy striker Alvaro Rodriguez, with negotiations for a five‑year contract until 2031 worth €30 million – €25 million guaranteed and €5 million in bonuses – reportedly underway, €30 million, comprising €25 million in guaranteed payments and an additional €5 million in performance‑related bonuses. Bournemouth aim to secure the striker on a contract that runs to 2031.
Rodriguez joined Elche permanently in the summer of 2025 and quickly became a regular starter in La Liga. He appeared in 34 of the 38 league matches, scoring seven goals and providing five assists as Elche finished 15th.
His performances attracted interest from clubs across Europe, with several Premier League sides monitoring his development. Bournemouth have now edged closer to finalising the €30 million agreement.
When Elche signed Rodriguez permanently, Real Madrid retained 50 % of his economic rights. A clause in the transfer means Los Blancos would receive €12.5 million from the fixed portion of the deal if the move goes through.
Rodriguez arrived at Real Madrid from Girona to join the club’s academy before making his senior debut in January 2023 during a Copa del Rey victory over Cacereno. A season‑long loan to Getafe in 2024 provided valuable experience, and his subsequent permanent move to Elche sparked his breakthrough.
Should Bournemouth complete the transfer under the reported terms, Real Madrid will benefit financially while the English side adds a proven La Liga striker to its squad. The clause highlights the potential upside of retaining partial rights on departing players.
