Barcelona's €30m gamble: Adeyemi arrives as Flick’s target

🇪🇸 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·
FC Barcelona have secured the transfer of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of about €22 million plus €7 million in bonuses, as announced by Fabrizio Romano with his trademark “Here we go”. The deal brings the 24‑year‑old Duitser to Spain on a five‑year contract until mid‑2031. The agreement follows a rejected bid on Thursday 9 July, when Dortmund initially turned down Barcelona’s offer. The final package amounts to a fixed sum of €22 million with €7 million in performance‑related bonuses, bringing the total close to €30 million. Barcelona pursued Adeyemi because Hansi Flick identified him as a key target to refresh the attack. The 24‑year‑old showed eagerness to leave, and the club secured his services with a contract running to mid‑2031 in Spanje. Dortmund originally signed the German forward in the summer of 2022, paying €30 million to RB Salzburg from Oostenrijk. During his spell, the Die Borussen recorded 146 appearances, 36 goals and 25 assists. Adeyemi earned his first cap for the Duitse national team in September 2021 and has since added eleven internationals. Flick also gave him his debut for Die Mannschaft, underscoring the coach’s confidence. For Barcelona the arrival adds depth and pace to a rejuvenating squad, while Voor Dortmund the fee supports future investment. Both parties view the move as a win‑win, ending a summer of negotiation.
