Bakayoko stays on the bench at Leipzig as the club wins 6‑0
While RB Leipzig last weekend secured a convincing 6‑0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, Johan Bakayoko wasn’t even on the bench. The absence, initially attributed to a minor injury, now appears to be a sporting decision by coach Martin Demichelis.
Coach Demichelis makes a sporting decision
According to Sky Germany, it is purely a sporting decision by Demichelis, without medical considerations. The Belgian forward was not even allowed to take a seat on the bench during the home match against Eintracht Frankfurt. The team had achieved its goal without his contribution.
Leipzig didn’t need Bakayoko to make a statement; the side dominated with a 6‑0 scoreline. The victory underscored the quality of the collective effort, making the Belgian’s absence barely noticeable.
Last season Bakayoko fell short of expectations. He featured in 22 matches across all competitions and scored three times. Muscle problems midway through the season contributed, but do not fully explain his limited output.

Meanwhile, Julian Alvarez has been on the radar of several clubs for weeks, including Barcelona, which has appeared repeatedly in the rumor mill. It now seems, however, that the Argentine striker could be heading towards a completely different destination.
Arsenal FC is once again targeting Bakayoko and wants to bring the Belgian in as quickly as possible. With twelve points from fifteen matches, the club has had a strong start and is looking for reinforcement in January for a new title chase.
Bayern Munich wants to extend Harry Kane’s contract; according to club chairman Herbert Hainer, the talks are progressing smoothly. Hainer dispelled a persistent rumor and confirmed the continuation of the negotiations.
