Kroos chooses Spanish federation RFEF for coaching course in 2027/28
In the offices of the Spanish football association RFEF, Toni Kroos was recently talking with an advisor about his future, while the clock ticked only two minutes before he expressed his intention.
The former midfielder of Real Madrid has indicated to the RFEF that he is interested in a special coaching course for former professionals. According to the Spanish newspaper AS, the 36‑year‑old German wants to start the course in the 2027/28 season.
New step after retirement
Kroos ended his impressive playing career in 2024, shortly after the European Championship in Germany. Since then, he has focused, among other things, on his own football academy in Boadilla, where he mentors young talents.
Although he already holds coaching qualifications, he believes they are insufficient to work as a head coach at the highest level. With the course, he wants to further expand his diplomas.
The course is specifically intended for former professional footballers and is expected to start in the 2027/28 season. Kroos hopes to obtain the necessary certificates to work as a coach later.
During his career he played for many years at the highest level with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, won the Champions League six times and became world champion with Germany in 2014.
Should he truly choose the coaching profession, he can bring his experience at the highest level into the next phase of his career.
