Amoura’s corner ignites Nice’s comeback at Brest on Friday
Algerian international Mohamed Amoura provided the decisive spark as OGC Nice overturned a half‑time deficit to win 2‑1 at the Stade Brestois on Friday evening, the opening fixture of Ligue 1’s eighth matchday in front of a lively Breton crowd.
Amoura started the match and sought to create danger from the first whistle. He unleashed a long‑range effort in the 13th minute that drifted wide, and Nice fell behind two minutes later when goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf mishandled a ball, allowing Ludovic Ajorque to score. His effort demonstrated his willingness to test the Brest defence from distance.
The half‑time whistle blew with Nice trailing 0‑1 after Ajorque’s finish. Olivier Pantaloni used the interval to rally his side and adjust tactics.
Second‑half pressure pays off
After the break, Olivier Pantaloni’s side displayed greater intent, pressing higher and occupying more of the opposition’s half. Their increased presence gradually forced the Brest defence onto the back foot. The increased pressure forced Brest into a defensive shape, creating space for Nice’s attackers.

The turning point arrived in the 61st minute when Amoura delivered a left‑side corner that found Elye Wahi at the far post. The ball rebounded to Amoura, who struck it with his right foot, beating goalkeeper Egil Selvik and restoring parity. The goal not only levelled the score but also shifted momentum in Nice’s favour.
Amoura’s influence continued until he was replaced by Isak Jansson in the 76th minute. Seven minutes later Sofiane Diop netted the decisive goal, putting Nice ahead for good. Diop’s strike arrived in the 83rd minute, sealing the comeback.
Nice had to withstand a late surge, with Kenny Lala seeing his penalty saved in added time. Les Aiglons held on to claim three points and leave Brittany satisfied. The three points lift Nice’s tally early in the Ligue 1 campaign.
