Al Ittihad pushes for record bid for Hadj Moussa, Feyenoord refuses

Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia has placed a bid of 37,5 million euros for the Algerian winger Anis Hadj Moussa, surpassing Feyenoord’s record sale figure of 32 million euros. The Rotterdam club, however, remains firm in its position and has not reached an agreement yet.

Financial details and record status

The reported amounts range between almost 35 million euros and 37,5 million euros. Both figures exceed the current Feyenoord‑record of 32 million euros for an outgoing transfer. This record was set last season with Mats Wieffer moving to Brighton.

Technical director Dévy Rigaux stated that Feyenoord does not feel obliged to inform Moussa, because the bid was not considered high enough. ‘For the player, the financial step up is however so extreme that he wanted to be informed about it’, Rigaux said. He added that the timing of a possible sale is problematic, as the club cannot purchase a replacement.

Hadj Moussa himself has indicated that he is ‘eager’ to move to Saudi Arabia and refers to earlier agreements with Feyenoord. He emphasizes that he still wants to complete the transfer, provided the club agrees.

The current record for an outgoing Feyenoord transfer stands at 32 million euros, achieved with Mats Wieffer moving to Brighton. With a new bid of 37,5 million euros, Moussa could break this record.

The Dutch transfer window is now closed, preventing Feyenoord from bringing in a replacement. ‘Since the transfer window in the Netherlands is already closed, Feyenoord can no longer purchase a replacement for Hadj Moussa’, said a club spokesperson. Moreover, a transfer‑free winger could not be registered for the Champions League. Feyenoord' has not yet made a decision.

With the Saudi transfer window closing on Sunday 6 September, the outcome of the negotiations remains uncertain. Feyenoord stays firm until that date, while Al Ittihad hopes to present an increased bid once more.
