Ajax ready to seal Tolu Arokodare’s €20m deal after stellar loan

Ajax technical director Jordi Cruyff drops a major hint that the Dutch giants are prepared to turn Tolu Arokodare’s loan spell into a permanent transfer, confirming that key financial and contractual details have already been agreed. The Nigeria international arrived on a season‑long loan from Sky Bet Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers during the summer transfer window. Since joining Ajax in Amsterdam, the 25‑year‑old striker has quickly become an important figure, making an impressive impact.

Loan impact and statistics

He has recorded ten goals and three assists in fifteen appearances across all competitions for the former European champions. The loan agreement reportedly contains an option to make the move permanent for a fee close to €20 million.

Cruyff later confirmed that the major details of a potential permanent move, including the player’s salary, have already been settled. “Everything has already been arranged. His salary too, although he did ask for a pay rise at the last press conference,” he told. “He’s doing well. I remember that when we signed him, there was a lot of talk about him coming from a relegated team and all that usual chatter. But he has settled in very well.”

“He has a good mentality, he’s a team player, and that’s important. I hope he continues like this. Strikers have their ups and downs,” Cruyff said. His performances suggest Ajax are well‑positioned to secure Arokodare’s long‑term future in Amsterdam.
