Everton weigh loan future as Moyes fumes over Grealish's missed training

David Moyes is not happy with Jack Grealish. Everton have reached a decision on Jack Grealish’s future after the Manchester City loanee was dropped for missing training. Grealish missed both of Everton’s wins over Newcastle after he failed to report for training last Monday, prompting Moyes and officials to react.
Club reaction to missed training
Moyes, a strict disciplinarian, was incensed and Grealish’s actions left the Scot and chief executive Angus Kinnear with no option but to omit him from the biggest night of Everton’s campaign at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Thursday. later revealed that Everton do not regard this week’s misdemeanour as marking the proverbial “Last Chance Saloon” for Grealish. It was claimed there have been occasional time‑keeping issues with Grealish in the past, but nothing on this scale from a personality regarded as a hard trainer who generally keeps himself in good condition.
The official Everton X account reported ahead of their win over Newcastle on Monday that Grealish was left out as he was ‘not match fit’, but Moyes refused to confirm that after the game. “All I’m giving out is that he is unavailable at the moment,” Moyes said. Moyes did suggest there was a way back for Grealish, echoing a report from TEAMtalk. Sources revealed the incident has left the club hierarchy feeling ‘frustrated and annoyed’ with the player, believing Everton have given him a genuine opportunity to rebuild his career after a difficult period at Manchester City.
Loan outlook and reintegration
Everton are not thought to be considering cutting Grealish’s season‑long loan from Manchester City short and Moyes is ready to reintegrate the 31‑year‑old into his squad ahead of Friday evening’s meeting with Coventry City. Moyes is understood to still believe Grealish can have an important role for Everton during the remainder of the campaign, provided he meets the expected standards. The club also recognises it has invested time and effort into helping the former Aston Villa captain rediscover his confidence and consistency. For now Everton are prepared to give him another opportunity rather than cut short his loan and send him back to Manchester City in January, though this should not be taken as unlimited patience.
