Ajax clears medical hurdle for Braziliaanse striker Leonardo

🇳🇱 By 4AllFootball Editorial ·
Ajax have cleared the final hurdle for the signing of 23‑year‑old Brazilian (Braziliaanse) striker Marcos Leonardo, who passed his medical on Sunday and is set to join the Amsterdam club on a contract running to mid‑2031, with a fee of up to €19 million. The Ajax medical team gave the green light, and Leonardo flew Sunday evening to the Netherlands (Nederland) before being examined on Monday at De Toekomst. Club staff praised the swift assessment that freed the striker for a possible contract. Only paperwork now separates the move from an official announcement, with lawyers (Advocaten) for Ajax, Al Hilal and Leonardo finalising the remaining formalities. The fee, reported at a maximum of €19 million, comprises a fixed sum of roughly €17.5 million plus potential bonuses. Leonardo is expected to sign his contract in the Johan Cruijff ArenA, a deal that runs until mid‑2031. The long‑term agreement underlines Ajax’s commitment to the new attacker. Technical director Jordi Cruijff has already added Leonardo to the list of summer acquisitions, following the arrivals of Caio Henrique and Daley Blind. Both previous signings have become regulars, reinforcing the club’s strategy of securing young talent. Recent discussions in Dutch football circles have ranged from Bellingham to Argentinië and Embolo, highlighting the broader context of the Nederlandse league. Ajax’s pursuit of Leonardo reflects its ambition to compete at the highest level domestically and in Europe. Marcos Leonardo’s arrival marks a significant boost for the Amsterdammers in Amsterdam as they prepare for the upcoming season.
