£30m deal pushes Liverpool towards Brughmans as Alisson nears exit

Fabrizio Romano announced that Liverpool the English club have reached a verbal agreement to sign 18‑year‑old Genk goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans for a £30 million package, with the deal expected to be finalised after a medical and the player joining in the summer of 2027.

Reporter Sacha Tavolieri first reported Liverpool’s pursuit of the 6ft 7in Genk stopper on Sunday, and confirmed on Monday that a medical had been approved. Romano later posted the confirmation ON X, writing that the deal is worth €35m (£30m) and that the club has already secured authorisation for the medical.

Impact on Mamardashvili

Mamardashvili has expressed frustration at his lack of playing time and is linked with a move to Nottingham Forest, but Liverpool’s doubts about his ability to replace Alisson have stalled any transfer. Romano’s statement that Brughmans will join in 2027 suggests Mamardashvili will remain at Anfield for the next season.

LIVERPOOL still have Freddie Woodman and Viteslav Jaros as goalkeeping options, although Jaros is sidelined with an ACL injury.
