Retro revival: Inter Milan’s 1998‑inspired home kit hits stores
Inter Milan and Nike have unveiled the club’s 2026/27 home kit – a black‑and‑blue vertical‑stripe shirt inspired by the iconic 1998 design – and announced that it will go on sale on 19 May 2026 through the club’s online store and selected outlets.
The kit will be sold from 19 May 2026 via Inter’s online store, the San Siro outlet, the Inter Store Milano and Nike stores in Milan and Rome. Wider retail distribution, including JD Sports, begins on 26 May.
Fans can purchase the Dri‑FIT Stadium replica, made from recycled polyester, while an Elite/Match version with performance fabric is offered for players seeking an athlete cut.
The design returns to clear vertical stripes after two seasons of experimental layouts, with thicker black bands and zig‑zag edges on the blue stripes to add visual dynamism.
Footy Headlines describes the shirt as a “return of the classic striped design” and notes the logo tone as a “half yellow, half orange” shade that echoes Milan’s fashion‑house palette.
The classic collar bears an inner‑neck label reading “Made of Milano”, linking the kit to the city’s tailoring tradition, while the stripe detailing is intended to evoke tailored pinstripes.
Fan reaction has been broadly positive, with praise for the Ronaldo‑era aesthetic; a minority of users on r/FCInterMilan consider the zig‑zag edge slightly overdesigned against a fully traditional template.
The launch arrives after Inter secured a domestic double under Cristian Chivu, adding commercial weight to what is already one of Nike’s stronger recent Inter home designs. A retro‑inspired third kit in Iron Grey, Black and Tour Yellow, nodding to the 1997/98 third shirt, is expected around August 2026.
