Paris Saint-Germain eye young Italian keeper Longoni on free
18‑year‑old Alessandro Longoni is set to leave Milan on a free transfer and join Paris Saint‑Germain at the end of his contract this summer. The Italian U19 goalkeeper already has an agreement in place to become part of Luis Enrique’s first‑team group.
Longoni expressed disappointment with the salary offer proposed during his contract extension talks with Milan. He felt the terms did not reflect his personal ambitions after a season spent with the Rossoneri’s Milan Futuro side.
His frustration grew after teammate Matteo Pittarella, also 18, was promoted to train with Milan’s first‑team while Longoni remained with the Primavera and Futuro squads. Longoni had been a member of the Italy U17 squad that won the European Championships earlier this month.
Paris Saint‑Germain’s pursuit of Longoni follows a pattern of recruiting Italian goalkeeping talent, most notably Gianluigi Donnarumma, who left Milan on a free transfer to join the French giants. The club also counts Gianluigi Buffon among its former keepers and already has 19‑year‑old Renato Marin on its books.
According to Calciomercato, Longoni expects to be integrated into the first‑team group under manager Luis Enrique. The move could provide him with the opportunity to train alongside established senior goalkeepers at the Parc des Princes.
For Milan, Longoni’s departure frees up a spot in their youth ranks but removes a prospect who had contributed to Italy’s recent youth success. For Paris Saint‑Germain, the signing adds depth to their goalkeeper department and continues their tradition of nurturing Italian talent.
