Kane’s choice: Munich over Camp Nou despite Barça’s pursuit
Harry Kane has made his final decision over the summer, opting to remain at Bayern Munich despite interest from Barcelona. The England captain remains fully committed to the Bavarians after turning down approaches from La Liga champions Barcelona.
Kane, 32, has delivered one of his finest seasons at club and international level. He has scored 72 goals in total this season, with 61 for Bayern Munich and 11 for England. His contributions included a decisive brace this week that secured England’s progression to the World Cup Round of 16.
Barcelona’s interest in Kane was driven by their long-term planning. The club has spent months assessing potential replacements for Robert Lewandowski, who is nearing the end of his tenure at the Spotify Camp Nou. Kane was identified as a prime candidate due to his experience, consistent goal record, and proven ability to perform at the highest level.
The Catalan side contacted Kane’s representatives to gauge his availability and willingness to consider a move to Barcelona after the ongoing World Cup. However, the striker’s stance has remained firm throughout the process.
Kane has no intention of leaving Bayern Munich this summer. His priority is to extend his contract with the Bavarians, which currently runs until June 2027. Both the player and the club have agreed to postpone renewal talks until after the World Cup to avoid unnecessary distractions.
Once the tournament concludes, Kane plans to negotiate exclusively with Bayern Munich. He is not entertaining offers from other clubs, effectively closing the door on Barcelona and any other potential suitors.
Barcelona’s transfer strategy remains unchanged. Club president Joan Laporta confirmed that the club’s top priority is signing Julián Álvarez from Atlético Madrid. The outcome of that pursuit will determine the rest of their summer transfer plans.
Only if a move for Álvarez proves impossible would Barcelona reconsider alternative options. Even then, Kane’s decision to stay in Munich makes him an unlikely fallback choice.
The England captain’s future is now settled for the foreseeable future, with Bayern Munich the sole focus of his ambitions.
