Inter Milan's midfield gamble stalls over Curtis Jones valuation

🇮🇹

Inter Milan are desperate to plug a creative void in midfield, and they view England international Curtis Jones as the ideal blend of energy, composure and tactical versatility for Serie A. The Italian giants have tabled an offer around €25 million, while Liverpool cling to a €40 million price tag.

Inter Milan’s head coach Cristian Chivu believes Jones could add energy, composure and versatility to his midfield options. The club has admired the midfielder for months as part of a longer‑term strategy to refresh its central areas.

Liverpool have refused to lower their asking price, insisting on roughly €40 million for the academy graduate. The club also values Jones for his Premier League reliability and his homegrown status, which aids squad registration.

Inter Milan’s latest proposal sits at about €25 million, a figure the club says stretches its current financial limit. Sporting director Piero Ausilio said, “Minimal range? You say so, the millions aren’t yours. We were interested in January and we’re still interested now. We tried and we’ll try again. If we meet later to discuss the valuation, fine, otherwise we’ll do something else.” His comments underline Inter’s admiration for Jones while confirming they will not exceed their stated limit.

Arsenal, led by manager Mikel Arteta, have entered the chase as they search for midfield reinforcements ahead of the new campaign. Nottingham Forest have also been linked with Jones, adding another potential destination.

Jones has expressed openness to a Serie A challenge, viewing Inter as an appealing opportunity at this stage of his career. His Premier League experience and homegrown status make him a valuable long‑term investment for any club.

Unless Liverpool adjust their demands, Inter may walk away from negotiations in the coming weeks. The stalemate leaves the midfielder’s future uncertain and could see the club pursue alternative targets.
