Blackpool's season‑long loan for Dion Charles adds veteran fire

Blackpool have secured Northern Ireland forward Dion Charles on a season‑long loan from Huddersfield Town, adding experience to the Seasiders' attack. The 30‑year‑old arrives after scoring in the 2023 EFL Trophy Final, a match that saw Bolton lift the trophy.

Blackpool manager Ian Evatt will oversee Charles' integration into the squad for the upcoming League One campaign. The forward joins the club on a loan that runs until the end of the season.

Charles previously featured for Bolton Wanderers, where he netted in the 2023 EFL Trophy Final that secured the cup for Bolton under manager Ian Evatt. His performances at Bolton contributed to a tally of 57 goals over three seasons.

Since moving to Huddersfield Town, Charles has recorded four goals in 55 appearances for the Terriers, a club he joined after leaving Bolton Wanderers in January 2025. Across his career he has amassed 250 League One appearances.

The forward said, “The gaffer knows what I’m about,” in a statement posted on the club website. He added, “He can get the best out of me and I’ve played the best football of my career under him so it’s really exciting times.”

Separately, Blackpool goalkeeper Peacock‑Farrell has signed a new contract with the club. Meanwhile, Leicester will commence their League One season with an away fixture at Notts County.
