Anderlecht’s summer reshuffle: Hasselt off, Beerschot on for July 11

🇧🇪

RSC Anderlecht’s pre-season schedule has been reshaped after Sporting Hasselt’s cancellation left the Mauves without a friendly, prompting a late switch to Beerschot on 11 July.

The Belgian top-flight side had already postponed their original opener against Sporting Hasselt this weekend due to injuries to Ilay Camara and Lucas Hey, who both suffered fractures. With the tactical framework still in its infancy under head coach Vitor Bruno, the club sought an immediate replacement fixture.

Beerschot, who had been scheduled to face OHL on the same date, will now travel to the Lotto Park instead. OHL’s withdrawal created the opening for Anderlecht to step in and secure a new opponent at short notice.

Mohamed Messoudi, Beerschot’s head coach, called the swap “a pretty good alternative” in Het . He noted the disappointment of playing at Anderlecht’s Lotto Park rather than the Kiel stadium, citing missing local authorisations as the reason.

Beerschot’s summer preparations include several new arrivals: Jordan Bustin and Abian Arslan from RFC Liège, Sem Audoor from Club NXT, Brent Stevens from Jong Genk, and Jelle Vossen from Zulte Waregem. The Antwerp side enters the Challenger Pro League with an ambitious squad.

Vitor Bruno’s team, meanwhile, continues pre-season training under challenging conditions across Belgium and Europe, with high temperatures affecting preparation schedules nationwide.
