Walsall shore up goalkeeping gap with Bristol Rovers' Jed Ward

Walsall have moved to plug a clear vacancy between the posts by signing 23‑year‑old Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Jed Ward as their sixth summer addition, securing the player on a three‑year deal with an optional extra year as the new season looms.

Ward has already logged 42 appearances for Bristol Rovers, including 38 in League One, a record documented by Getty Images. His consistent involvement at that level highlights the calibre he brings to Walsall.

The club completed the deal for an undisclosed fee, offering Ward a three‑year contract with an option for a further year, signalling confidence in his long‑term contribution. The terms suggest the club sees him as a key part of their future plans.

Ward came up through the Gas' youth ranks, making this his first permanent transfer after several loan spells in the fifth and sixth divisions. Those experiences have prepared him for the rigours of senior football.

A former England Under‑20 international, Ward started every National League game while on loan to Yeovil Town last season. His international pedigree and regular game time underline his readiness for the step up.
