Transfer talks stall as Feyenoord and Roma clash over €28m Read deal

🇳🇱 By 4AllFootball ·

Negotiations between Feyenoord and AS Roma over the transfer of 20‑year‑old right‑back Givairo Read have hit a deadlock, with both sides meeting again on Monday 3 August but failing to bridge a gap that now exceeds €28 million and includes a 10 % sell‑on clause, reports .

the negotiations have been described as very difficult. Both clubs acknowledge the complexity of reaching an agreement.

The two parties reconvened on Monday 3 August, sitting at the negotiation table once more. Despite the renewed talks, the discussions have stalled in an impasse.

Earlier that day it became public that Feyenoord and AS Roma were back at the table to discuss Read. The Giallorossi are keen on securing the 20‑year‑old right‑back.

A previous bid of €25 million was rejected, leaving both sides without a deal. The failed offer has contributed to the current deadlock.

‘De Rotterdammers onderhandelen met het mes tussen de tanden’, wrote , highlighting the tense atmosphere. The vivid metaphor underscores the pressure on both clubs.

AS Roma appears unwilling to exceed the current proposal on the table. The deal is said to involve a transfer sum of more than €28 million and a ten‑percent future‑sale clause.

With no breakthrough in sight, both sides are expected to continue talks over the coming days. In Rome a five‑year contract awaits Read, while his existing contract with Feyenoord runs until mid‑2029.

To date, Read has featured in 54 first‑team matches for Feyenoord, scoring five goals and providing eleven assists. His contributions have come from the right‑back position.
