Transfer saga: Hervé Koffi set for Union Saint‑Gilloise move

🇫🇷 By 4AllFootball ·

Hervé Koffi, the Burkinabe goalkeeper who impressed on loan at Angers in Ligue 1, will leave RC Lens and is poised to join Union Saint‑Gilloise in Belgium on another loan spell. The move comes after he was blocked by competition from fellow keeper Rissier and has been linked with a departure for months.

Koffi enjoyed a very successful season in Ligue 1 with Angers, where his performances placed him among the league’s top goalkeepers. Despite the strong showing, Lens confirmed he will not remain at the club.

His exit was accelerated by the presence of Rissier, who secured the starting spot at Lens. The Burkinabe keeper had been announced as a departure long before the window opened.

French media report that Koffi will head back out on loan for the upcoming season. The press describes the move as a repeat of his previous loan arrangements.

Union Saint‑Gilloise, fresh off qualifying for the Champions League, have identified Koffi as a target to strengthen their European campaign. The Belgian side sees his experience as valuable for the group stage.

Koffi is no stranger to Belgian football, having previously guarded the nets of Mouscron and Sporting Charleroi. He expressed openness to the project and does not oppose a move to the Brussels‑based club.

The goalkeeper’s reputation in France remains high; he was regarded as one of Ligue 1’s best last season. This standing adds credibility to Union Saint‑Gilloise’s interest.
