Transfer market: AS Saint-Étienne target Colombian winger Camilo Mena
AS Saint-Étienne, known as the Greens, have placed Colombian winger Camilo Mena on their transfer market radar, suggesting he could become one of the club's summer acquisitions. The 23‑year‑old currently plies his trade with Lechia Gdańsk in Poland and has attracted interest from several European sides.
Camilo Andrés Mena Márquez was born on 1 October 2002 in Concordia, Colombia. After his family fled the violence in his native region, he continued his development at the Tigres FC academy in Bogotá.
He made his professional debut at just 15 in Colombia’s second division, quickly drawing attention for his performances. In 2019, the British newspaper listed him among the 60 best global talents born in 2002.
Following a spell with Deportivo Pereira in Colombia’s top flight, Mena moved to Europe, joining Valmiera FC in Latvia. He helped the club win the Latvian championship in 2022, showcasing his speed and one‑on‑one ability.

A short loan to Jagiellonia Białystok introduced him to Polish football, after which he signed permanently with Lechia Gdańsk in the summer of 2023. He contributed to the club’s promotion to the Ekstraklasa and, in the most recent season, recorded five goals and ten assists.
Primarily deployed as a right winger, Mena can also operate on the left or in a more central attacking role. Standing 1.75 m tall, his key attributes are acceleration, dribbling and crossing, while his finishing, physicality against stronger defenders and defensive work rate remain areas for improvement.
Mena is contracted to Lechia Gdańsk until June 2028 and is currently valued at approximately €4 million, according to club estimates.
AS Saint-Étienne have yet to confirm whether they will act on the dossier, while other European clubs continue to monitor his progress closely.
