Standard secures Sylvester Jasper as new winger for Sclessin

Standard Liège have completed the signing of Sylvester Jasper, a 24‑year‑old winger, confirming his arrival at the club’s Sclessin base with a contract that runs until 2029 after a strong season in Servië and is expected to add pace, one‑on‑one skill and versatility to Vincent Euvrard’s side.

The transfer was already confirmed by coach Vincent Euvrard earlier in the week after Standard’s 1‑0 friendly victory over Arminia Bielefeld, a win that saw the Rouches lift their spirits.

Euvrard said, “Het is een flankspeler die sterk is in één‑tegen‑éénsituaties. Hij kan op links buitenom gaan en een voorzet afleveren, maar ook naar binnen komen en zelf uithalen. Hij kan eveneens op rechts spelen, al liet hij op de linkerflank zijn beste kwaliteiten zien.”

Jasper signed a deal until 2029 after moving from FK Železničar Pančevo, the Serbian top‑flight side where he featured in 34 matches, netting seven goals and providing an equal number of assists, including an assist on the opening day of the new season.

Sporting director Marc Wilmots praised the newcomer, noting, “Sylvester was named in the team of the year in Servië last season. He has speed, is strong in duels and can win ground in transitions, giving our technical staff extra options.”

Born in England, Jasper was developed at QPR and Fulham, making three first‑team appearances for the latter and reuniting with former Fulham teammate Marlon Fossey at Standard.

Internationally, Jasper initially represented English youth sides before opting for Bulgaria, where he has already featured for the U21 team and now awaits a senior debut.

Jasper added, “After a good season in Servië I look forward to taking the next step in my career. The Standard project fits what I am looking for and I can’t wait to start this exciting challenge.”
