Southampton’s summer push gains depth as Santos and McInnes arrive

Southampton have launched their summer recruitment drive by signing 22‑year‑old goalkeeper Alina Santos from the University of Denver and 21‑year‑old midfielder Libbi McInnes from Sunderland, both deals confirmed on the Saints’ website earlier today, while the two newcomers see the moves as a chance to grow in the English women’s game.

Goalkeeper Alina Santos, 22, arrived on the South Coast after a three‑year spell in the American college system with the University of Denver. Her signing was announced first by Southampton. Internationally, Santos has earned four caps for New Zealand.

Midfielder Libbi McInnes, 21, joined Southampton after departing Sunderland, where she progressed through The Lady Black Cats’ academy. McInnes made 74 appearances for Sunderland across all competitions. The move marks her first senior club after leaving the Sunderland set‑up.

The Saints confirmed both signings on their official website, marking the club’s first additions of the summer transfer window.
