Slot-opvolger Andoni Iraola opened his first press conference at Liverpool' by contrasting the club’s frantic activity on the transfer market with a stark admission that the situation is "Dat is impossible" to ignore. He told the Reds that the English top club faces a difficult period as they cannot begin the season with only fifteen players.

Liverpool is busy on the transfer market to bring in reinforcements, a fact the new manager highlighted as a priority for the squad.

Iraola said he does not intend to change his methods from previous clubs, yet he recognises that expectations at Liverpool are higher than ever before.

He stressed the challenge of replacing Mohamed Salah, noting, "We must accept that it is a difficult situation. Experienced players have left after winning everything, and some key players are injured."

The injuries he referred to involve Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni, both sidelined and adding to the squad’s woes.

According to Iraola, Liverpool needs to act quickly: "We have already brought in two players, but the club is still working. We need a broader squad. It is impossible to start the season with fifteen players; you need a full roster."
