Serie A footballer Yael Trepy, the 20‑year‑old Cagliari star, was air‑lifted to the Santissima Annunziata Civil Hospital in Sassari and placed in intensive care after nearly drowning in a swimming pool at a mansion in Sardinia, moments after enjoying downtime following the club’s Coppa Italia win over Arezzo.
Incident and club response
The incident unfolded at the Sardinian mansion where Trepy was relaxing after Cagliari’s 1‑0 Coppa Italia victory over Arezzo on Friday. He had featured for 53 minutes before being substituted, contributing to the win.
