Saudi giant Al Hilal outbids Roma for Summerville in €76m deal

Crysencio Summerville, the 24‑year‑old winger, has completed a move to Al Hilal, with West Ham United set to receive at least €76 million including bonuses. The Dutch international is reported to earn roughly €15 million per season and says he is determined to make a big impact.

Summerville appeared close to joining AS Roma before Al Hilal intervened with a huge proposal that secured the transfer at the last moment. The Saudi club, the biggest in the Saudi Pro League, used the size of the offer to pull the deal away.

Summerville first saw Al Hilal in action at the Club World Cup last summer, noting that the side competed strongly against the world’s best clubs. He said the level he witnessed "surprised me a lot" and sparked his enthusiasm for the move.

He added that everyone at Al Hilal evaluated him and showed interest, describing it as an honour to be assessed by the club. Summerville explained that his feeling‑based decision gave him the right confidence to join.

The winger outlined his ambitions, stating he wants to win the league, capture the Champions League and collect every possible trophy. He also wants to provide the team with goals, assists and memorable moments, adding that fans come to see players like him and that Neymar was his childhood idol.

Summerville highlighted that this is his first adventure outside Europe, but recalled moving to the Premier League at eighteen, which he believes helped him mature both on and off the pitch.

He expressed happiness at signing for Al Hilal, calling it the biggest club in the Saudi Pro League, and looks forward to wearing the shirt. West Ham United benefits from a substantial €76 million inflow, while Al Hilal adds a player eager to chase titles.
