Rumours of Ajax and PSV interest in Danjuma hit a wall

On Sunday evening, our own Mounir Boualin reported that 29‑year‑old Arnaut Danjuma was attracting interest from Ajax and PSV, while a day later Mike Verweij dismissed any Ajax (Amsterdammers) pursuit, leaving the former Dutch international’s Eredivisie future in doubt.

Denial from Ajax and PSV

Boualin said both Dutch (Nederlandse) top clubs want the Valencia striker (Valencia-aanvaller) back to the Eredivisie. He added that Ajax and PSV had approached the 29‑year‑old’s entourage several times and that Danjuma himself would welcome a return.

Speaking on the Kick‑off podcast, Verweij told De listeners, “I saw Danjuma’s name mentioned and the colleagues at Eindhovens Dagblad denied PSV interest. I also checked with Ajax – at this moment, and say never say never, there is absolutely no talk.”

Verweij suggested the rumours may stem from agents marketing the player, noting, “When two clubs are named, it often looks like the player is being put on the market by his agent.”

The denial comes as Ajax, after the exit of Mika Godts, continues to hunt two wide forwards. On the left, Noa Lang is being positioned as the successor to the Belgian, while the right‑hand side remains unsettled for coach Míchel.

These conflicting reports underline the uncertainty surrounding Danjuma’s possible Eredivisie move and highlight Ajax’s broader recruitment strategy ahead of the new season.
